Villa Katina Reserve 2018
Tasting Notes
Merlot 77%
Cabernet Sauvignon 23%
The colour is a deep ruby nuance.
The aroma is a palette of red forest berries, a touch of vanilla, fig and cherry jam.
The taste is intense yet balanced. The fruit and oak notes form a perfect union with no dominance of either. The moderate acidity preserves the wine’s potential for further aging. The tannins are soft and silky and won’t intrude.
Unlike other years when the basis for our cepage is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, in 2018 we used mostly Merlot. This led to a very rich fruity body, with notes of sour cherry and cherry, fresh forest herbs and a mild sweetness. The full picture of the journey is complemented by the slight notes of leather and toasted bread in the aftertaste. The aroma remains long after you’ve left your glass empty.
